George Oliver

George Oliver MBE - Parliamentary Training Consultant

George Oliver MBE is an independent, freelance parliamentary consultant specialising on all aspects of Parliamentary procedure in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

Prior to this, George worked at the former Department for Education for 23 years during which he held a number of important posts. These included Assistant to the Deputy Parliamentary Clerk, Assistant Private Secretary to the Minister for Higher Education and Parliamentary Clerk to the Secretary of State for Education and other junior Ministers until 1993. During his time as parliamentary clerk he wrote a Parliamentary Clerk's Handbook and the DFE Guide to Primary Legislation in Parliament'. He has written a book, 'A Guide to Legislation from Consultation to Act'. He was an elected member of Crawley Borough Council from May 1998 - May 2002, when he served on the Leisure Services, Environment, Licensing and Standards Committees.
