Sue Markey - Senior Policy Officer, Information Commissioner's Office
Sue Markey is a Senior Policy Officer in the Strategic Liaison Division at the Information Commissioner’s Office. Her role is to liaise with key stakeholders in the central government sector on freedom of information and data protection issues.
The Strategic Liaison Division’s work is focused on building and maintaining relationships with those who have a significant role in helping, hindering or harming the ICO’s ability to achieve its mission of promoting and upholding information rights and delivery of strategic objectives. The Division’s day-to-day activities centre on managing the ICO’s relationship with stakeholders and issues that are strategically important and include:
- Influencing and supporting key stakeholders
- Establishing or building relationships with stakeholders.
- Taking advantage of opportunities to promote information rights and to develop ICO thinking on matters with a view to assisting stakeholders and enhancing ICO standing.
She has considerable public sector experience and prior to joining the ICO in 2004 worked in policy formulation and development at the Equal Opportunities Commission (now joined into the Equality and Human Rights Commission)
