Katie Melville - Former Private Secretary to Lord Davies of Abersoch
Katie currently works on banking competition and competitiveness in the Business Finance and Tax team at BIS. Until the May election, she was Private Secretary to Lord Davies of Abersoch, Minister for Trade, Investment and Small Business, where she initially led the team, and as his portfolio expanded, led on media, small business, UK Trade and Investment and the Export Credits Guarantee Department. Before joining private office, she was in the Secretariat to the Business Council for Britain, an informal advisory group to the Prime Minister made up of business leaders.
Prior to joining the Government, she worked in public affairs at the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, and in Paris for Expatica, a European expat media firm. She gained her degree in Linguistics and Comparative Literature on a Morehead Scholarship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the United States.
