David-Gauke

David Gauke MP (Con, South West Hertfordshire) - Shadow Minister for the Treasury

David Gauke read law at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University. He qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and worked for a leading City firm until his election as MP for Hertfordshire South West on 5 May 2005.

David has been an active member of the Conservative Party since 1993 as a council candidate, association officer and campaign organiser. He was appointed to the Conservative frontbench as part of the Shadow Treasury team in June 2007 where he has specific responsibility for matters relating to HM Revenue & Customs, such as tax credit and the taxation system.

David is a co-signatory to "Direct Democracy: An Agenda for a New Model Party", a pamphlet which calls for more powers to be devolved to local government and directly elected individuals.
