Clare Ballard-Yawson, Centre and Family Services Manager, The Weir Link
Clare Ballard-Yawson currently works as The Weir Link Centre & Family Services Manager. Her hands-on experience with the Weir Link centre has given Clare extensive personal experience in the mutual sector. The centre was delivered by mutuality and given the level of volunteer management input, represents an impressive example of how a mutual can excel in difficult economic times.
Clare has extensive experience in the field of social work. After graduating with a combined Politics and History degree in 1974, Clare went to work as a social worker in Manchester, later completing a qualification in social work from Cardiff University (CQSW) in 1978. Working in Lewisham, Lambeth and Southwark, she helped establish and support a wide range of community groups and community projects, particularly within black communities in Brixton and Peckham. Clare also worked with Greenwich Development Agency, and was Interim Manager of Waterloo Green Trust.
