Wendy Alexander MSP (Lab, Paisley North) - Former Leader of the Scottish Labour Party
Wendy Alexander has been an MSP since the Parliament was created and served as a Minister from 1999-2002, in a variety of roles including as Communities Minister and Enterprise, Lifelong Learning and Transport Minister, and has been Convenor of the Finance Committee. She was the Leader of the Labour Party in the Scottish Parliament from September 2007 - June 2008. She currently serves on the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee.
In 2005 she co-edited 'New Wealth for Old Nations (PUP)', the book that emerged from the Allander Series on the Scottish economy. She also edited 'Donald Dewar Scotland's First First Minister' (Mainstream 2005) and was for a time a Daily Record columnist.
In the decade before she was elected Wendy worked in the private, voluntary and public sectors and in the 1990s she worked for an international management consultancy, undertaking assignments in Europe, Asia, North America and Australasia.
