Jan Marshall - Head of Constitution and Parliamentary Secretary

Constitution and Parliamentary Secretariat Directorate, The Scottish Government.

Jan Marshall is a lawyer who worked in private practice before joining the civil service in 1991. She has occupied a range of posts within Solicitors Office most recently providing legal services to criminal justice, police and health departments. She is currently head of Constitutional and Parliamentary Secretariat (CPS) that forms part of the Justice and Communities Directorate within the Scottish Government and comprises the Constitution Unit and the Freedom of Information Unit. CPS provides support to Bruce Crawford, MSP, the Minister for Parliamentary Business. The Constitution Unit advises on constitutional policy, civic participation, Parliamentary liaison, the Scottish Government's legislative programme and the National Conversation. Mr Crawford also has portfolio responsibility for the Scottish Government's policy on freedom of information and the Freedom of Information Unit provides advice on FOI policy, casework and appeals to the Scottish Information Commissioner.
